Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Finance (FMB)

About the role

We are a growing Food, Manufacturing & Beverages (FMB) company seeking an experienced and commercially minded Chief Financial Officer to join our executive leadership team. This is a pivotal role for a business at an important stage of growth — expanding production capacity, entering new markets, and optimizing its financial infrastructure.

The CFO will serve as a trusted strategic partner to the CEO and Board, bringing deep FMB-sector financial expertise to drive profitability, manage risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead the company’s capital strategy. Only candidates with direct and substantial experience in food, manufacturing, or beverages industries will be considered.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy in alignment with overall business objectives
  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes
  • Manage and optimize cash flow, working capital, and liquidity across production cycles
  • Oversee cost accounting and COGS analysis specific to food and manufacturing operations — raw materials, packaging, production overhead, and waste
  • Drive gross margin improvement through pricing strategy, procurement cost control, and manufacturing efficiency insights
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with IFRS or local GAAP standards
  • Lead relationships with banks, lenders, and investors — managing credit facilities, trade finance, and capital raises
  • Oversee internal and external audit processes and implement robust internal controls
  • Manage tax planning, VAT compliance, and statutory filing obligations
  • Evaluate capital expenditure (CapEx) proposals for plant expansion, equipment, and new product lines
  • Provide financial due diligence and analysis for M&A, joint ventures, or new market entry
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance and accounting team
  • Present financial performance, risks, and opportunities to the Board and shareholders

FMB-specific expertise required

  • Deep understanding of food and beverage cost structures — ingredients, yield loss, batch costing, and seasonal pricing
  • Experience with manufacturing P&L management including overhead absorption and production variance analysis
  • Familiarity with supply chain finance — supplier payment terms, inventory financing, and commodity hedging
  • Knowledge of regulatory and food safety financial compliance (HACCP, ISO 22000 financial impact awareness)
  • Experience managing multi-site or multi-product-line financial consolidation
  • Understanding of export finance, LC/documentary credit, and cross-border trade in FMCG or FMB contexts

Qualifications & certifications
